There is a famous saying: “Those who do not know their history are condemned to repeat it.” This is absolutely true in aviation and a very easy way to learn from the mistakes of others are the Accident Investigation flash cards from Flash Aviation. These are quick stories, and easy to digest and remember, and just as important to assimilate as standard checklists. The whole purpose of the NTSB investigations is to find out why a crash happened so it hopefully doesn’t happen again. But if pilots don’t make the effort to learn the information and incorporate the lessons into their own flying, the skies (and ground) become that much more dangerous. These cards are a quick and necessary read and I highly recommend pilots make them part of their continued study.
